UJI EFEK PENURUNAN KADAR GLUKOSA DARAH PADA TIKUS PUTIH Rattus novergicus ) DENGAN PEMBERIAN EKSTRAK ETANOL DAUN KEMANGI (Ocimum sanctum)

Diabetes mellitus is a chronic disorder characterized by hyperglycemia
(excessive blood glucose rise) and especially in relation to the metabolism of
carbohydrate (glucose) in the body.
The purpose of this study was to determine whether the ethanol leaf
extract of basil (ocimum sanctum) has the effect of reduction blood glucose level
and to find out the best doseof Ethanol Extract of Basil Leaf (Ocimum sanctum)
so it has the same effect with glibenclamide.
This study was an experimental research using 24 male mice, the mice
were divided into 6 groups which weregiven with Aquadest(T1), 0.5% CMC
suspension (T2), glibenclamide(T3), EEDK 0.021g/kg (T4), EEDK 0.042g/kg (T5),
EEDK 0.084g/kg (T6). After 30 minutes each group was given Glucose solution
and every 15 minutes the blood glucose levels were measured.
The results showed that Ethanol Extract Basil Leaf with 0.021g/kg,
0.042g/kg, 0.084g/kg body weight can lower blood glucose levels in mice and
0.084g/kg hadthe same effect as glibenclamide.
