Abstract
stunting is one of the nutritional problems faced by developing countries, including
Indonesia. The incidence of stunting in rural areas is higher than in urban areas. The low income of
parents in rural areas affects children's nutritional intake and impacts the incidence of editing. One of the
villages with a reasonably high incidence of stunting is Lubuk Rumbai village, located in Tuah Negeri
Sub-district. In the village of Lubuk Rumbai, there are many Moringa leaves planted by residents. The use
of Moringa leaves as a functional food ingredient is not widely known by the public. So far, Moringa leaves
are only used as vegetables. Moringa leaves contain calcium, iron, protein, vitamin A, vitamin B, and vitamin C, essential for child growth. This community service activity aims to train mothers in using
Moringa leaves as a ready-to-drink drink, namely Moringa leaf tea for stunting prevention.
Methods: Community service activities were held in Lubuk Rumbai Village, Tuah Negeri District, with
the target group of mothers having toddlers. Activities carried out in health education about stunting
prevention and demonstration of making Moringa leaf tea. Before and after health education activities, the
mother's knowledge about stunting prevention was evaluated.
Results: The knowledge evaluation results showed an increase in maternal knowledge in stunting
prevention after being given health education. In addition, the mother well followed the demonstration of
making Moringa leaf tea. After the rally, the mother was able to simulate making Moringa leaf tea.
Conclusion: there was an increase in mothers' knowledge in utilizing local ingredients, namely Moringa
leaves as a functional food to prevent stunting in children.
