Abstract

The aim of this study was to investigate the correlation between serum creatinine levels and age at menarche
among female students at Institute of Health Science in Medan, Indonesia. This cross-sectional study included fifty-one
healthy female students (mean age 20.55 ± 0.54 years) from three Institutes of Health Science (Binalita Sudama, Widya
Husada, and Audi Husada) Medan, Indonesia on May to August 2018. Participants completed menstrual identification
questionnaire by using retrospective methods and serum creatinine measurement. Statistical Package for Social Sciences
(SPSS) version 18.0 was used to perform statistical data analysis. The serum creatinine of participants were in low level (0.34
± 0.17 mg/dL), they experienced menarche at average 12.24 ± 1.05 years. We observed that there was significant correlation
between serum creatinine levels and menarche (r = 0.314, p = 0.025).
