Abstract
Background: Pregnancy, childbirth, the postpartum period, newborn care, and
family planning constitute a continuum of maternal and child health services that
requires continuous monitoring to prevent complications. Limited maternal
knowledge, particularly among primigravida women, in distinguishing false labor
from true labor may lead to anxiety and delays in obtaining appropriate care.
Therefore, comprehensive Continuity of Care (COC) midwifery services from
pregnancy through childbirth, the postpartum period, newborn care, and family
planning are essential to improve maternal and neonatal health outcomes while
facilitating the early detection of complications. This study aimed to provide
comprehensive Continuity of Care midwifery services for Mrs. I throughout
pregnancy, childbirth, the postpartum period, newborn care, and family planning.
Methods: This study employed a case study design using a comprehensive
midwifery management approach with Subjective, Objective, Assessment, and
Planning (SOAP) documentation.
Results: Mrs. I (G1P0A0) received four antenatal care visits. During the first visit,
at 33–34 weeks of gestation, she experienced false labor contractions, which were
successfully managed during pregnancy. Delivery was performed by cesarean
section due to a tight nuchal cord. Three postpartum follow-up visits were
conducted, and no complications were identified. A healthy female infant was
delivered with a birth weight of 2,700 g and a birth length of 49 cm. The infant
received exclusive breastfeeding. Following counseling, the mother chose the 3
month injectable contraceptive as her preferred family planning method.
Conclusion: Comprehensive Continuity of Care (COC) had a positive impact on
maternal and neonatal health outcomes. Mothers are encouraged to continue routine
postoperative wound care following cesarean delivery and to maintain exclusive
breastfeeding as recommended
