Background: Pregnancy can pose health risks, including for women who have no
previous health problems. Antenatal care services are an important way to monitor
and support maternal health and detect pregnancy. Pregnant women often have
complaints of discomfort during their pregnancy, and it is not uncommon for
complaints of discomfort in pregnant women to be a danger sign of pregnancy.
Leg edema in pregnant women can be a danger sign in pregnancy. Efforts to
reduce complaints in pregnancy one of them is optimizing services in pregnancy.
Objective: Provide continuous midwifery care for pregnant women, maternity,
postpartum, newborns and family planning with a midwifery management
approach.
Methods: Continuity of care with SOAP midwifery management.
Results: Mrs. R, 26 years old, G4P1A2, had antenatal care checks 2 times, the
mother's complaint during pregnancy was edema on the legs. Labor took place
normally. In the postpartum period Mrs. R experienced complaints of blistered
nipples. The newborn baby weighed 2700 grams and was 47 cm long in normal
condition. The baby gained weight on the 18th day by 1000 grams. After
counseling, the mother chose to use the IUD contraceptive.
Conclusion: Continuity of care care has an impact on increasing maternal
knowledge and health status of mothers and children
